Plot: A young man is worried about losing his loved one because the girl's parents do not approve of him. The passion is taken to the extreme, to show the amount of love and pain he would feel if his lover does not stay in the relationship with him. The hook of the song is "it will rain" which suggests that the man will cry like the rain, if his girlfriend leaves him. The lyrics also include picking up broken pieces of glass until he is bleeding, which implies that he will bleed himself in order to make everything alright. The man mentiones that he will need morphine for the pain, which also implies that he will be feeling serious pain. The man describes himself, as a troublesome guy, and the girl's parents cannot look him in the eye. But, the man realizes that if he was a father he would do the same thing--be overprotective of his daughter. The man does not want the girl to ever leave him because he loves her so much.
Review: This song is a perfect fit for the Twilight Saga soundtrack, because it resembles the struggle of Edward (vampire) to fit in to Bella's family. Bella's father does not like Edward, yet Edward is in love with Bella. So, this song represents what a man would do for a woman to prove to her parents that he is the right one for their daughter. This is a very emotional song, and the perspective is from a man's point of view. Therefore, showing that men can have emotions as well as women. This song is clean, except for the mentioning of morphine. However, he is using a drug to express how much pain he would be in if his girlfriend leaves him. A very soulful song, and even if the song was not on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack, it would be very popular with tweens. Bruno Mars' music is very emotional, and girls will swoon over his voice. The song is very relateable for tweens, who face the issues of not being accepted by their partner's parents.
